HOLMES WILLIAMS is the founder and the Senior Pastor of The People’s Cathedral in Bridgetown. Started in 1960, in his living room, The People’s Cathedral has now grown to approximately 4,500 baptized members. It is the largest Evangelical church in the Eastern Caribbean. It holds three services on Sunday to accommodate the growing congregation.
Born in Barbados, Rev. Holmes Williams is a gifted evangelist and has conducted many crusades in most of the English and French Caribbean islands as well as North America, Europe, Asia and Africa , seeing thousands come to Christ. He is the host of two daily radio programs – the 15 minute “CHRIST IS THE ANSWER” and the 5 minute “GOOD NEWS”. These two broadcasts reach millions of people everyday throughout the region being broadcast some 7,100 times a year on various radio stations in the region stretching from Belize to Trinidad .
Rev. Williams has written the book “KNOW WHAT YOU BELIEVE”. During the early 1970’s, he served as Chairman of the Cave’s Authority, a statutory corporation that oversaw the development of the now world famous Harrison’s Cave in Barbados.
In 1992, Rev. Holmes Williams received the Silver Crown of Merit from the Government of Barbados in recognition of his service to the Christian Church in . He was awarded the Honorary Doctor of Divinity by Faith Theological Seminary in Tampa, Florida in recognition of his years of outstanding Christian service as Pastor and Evangelist. He is also the recipient of the Master of Theology and Bachelor of Theology Degrees.
Rev. Holmes Williams is married to Rosemary and together have three sons, Peter, Paul and David as well as eight grandchildren.
