The "Captain's Ministry" of The Cathedral is an integral part of the life of each member of this local assembly. Under the supervision of Rev. Wilma Gill, a trusted cadre of 150 captains aid in offering an element of pastoral care to members of this assembly. Captain's groups observe a similar structure to that of the 'cell-group', in that members are strengthened and matured on a more personal and individual basis.
After making formal committment to a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, we encourage you to do several vital things, one of which is to join a healthy Bible-believing church. Seekers / new-converts are given an opportunity to enquire into the doctrine of Scripture and the tenants that we as an assembly observe. Afterwards, opportunity is given for water-baptism and membership. Each new member is appointed a Captain, and he/she is then carefully looked after. New-converts and Captains alike, take delight in building meaningful relationships (all of which remain natural, noninvasive and reassuring.)
A Captain's Report:
At Christmas-time, as part of our 20th anniversary celebration, the ladies of "Group 97" of TPC held a special recognition ceremony.
The event was An Awards & Appreciation dinner which took place on Sat. 22nd December 2007 at the Amaryllis Hotel, where several pastors, ofice staff as awell as group members were presented with trophies and gifts. Among the awardees were Senior pastor Rev. Dr. Holmes Williams, Rev. Dr. Michael Crichlow, Rev. Wayne Webster, Rev. Wilma Gill, Rev. Eileen Rowe, Rev. Edwin Bullen, and Pastor Rosie Williams. Office staff were Miss Phyllis Edghill and Miss Esmay Blackman. Group members were also included.
"Group 97" led by Captain Mrs. Barbara Smith holds monthly fellowship meeings and we attribute the group's survival to the close network and family-like atmosphere exhibited by those members who play an active role. |
